High Ceilings - Low Floors

I've been painting!!! No, not fun painting. No cute tissue boxes with chalk paint and vintage ads from the Graphics Fairy.

No upcycled jewelry boxes for the Etsy shop.

Nope, I’ve been painting walls. Walls with 20 foot ceilings. Some walls peak above the stairs to the basement which makes it about 28 feet, give or take. Did I mention I’m afraid of heights? I guess every 15 years is not too often to repaint your home. So in 15 years when my touch up paint runs out again, I’m moving!

Messy House While Painting

High Ceilings Trimmed Out
And while I have the ladders out, I have a wonderful replacement for this. I can’t wait to share it with you…

just as soon as I finish painting...

Help me please........

  1. Hi Linda. Glad you're back. Girl, I hate to say it though.....you are on your own with the painting. Ewwww, I hate to paint. I'm no good at it!! I get paint on everything. I will wish you luck, though. Careful on that ladder. Your tissue and jewelry boxes are cute.

    1. The Rock Star is quite a messy painter too - but I always thought he did it to get "fired" from helping! Thanks for the good luck wishes - I'm hoping to finish this weekend.

  2. Oh- If I lived closer I would come help you. I don't mind painting at all-BUT that is one TALL WALL! Hope you are done in no time. Once you get the cutting in done it goes pretty fast, I think.
Have a wonderful weekend and I can't wait to see your new light fixture- xo Diana

  3. Our interior was painted in 2003 and ALL of my trim needs to be touched up. I will be painting baseboards, trim and doors for the next few weeks. Fortunately, the walls aren't needing paint right now.

    1. Got the walls done - thank goodness! Now I'm right there with you at the baseboard stage. They're not much more fun than walls, but at least I can do them in phases - nothing to clean every day but a brush!

  4. Oh, I don't envy you! I know what it's like painting those long tall stretches of wall over a stairwell. You'll feel like you're in a new space when it's all said and done, and I can't wait to see! I've got plenty of walls to paint here, but it's frustrating when it's cracked plaster walls. :(

  5. You're my hero, because there's no way that I would climb a ladder to deal with that kind of height. Our last house had a two-story foyer and I don't want to even think about how far it was from the floor to the ceiling in that space. This house has one wall that's tricky ... 2 stories tall from the stairs to the ceiling. For things like this, I save up and hire a cute painter who enjoys teetering on ladders and does a great job of painting. Worth every penny.

    1. I've started my painter savings account already!! If I ever have to do this again in my lifetime - the painter I hire doesn't even have to be cute (though that would be a definite plus).

  6. I have the same high ceilings and it's been 20 years for us. Yes, it's time to repaint. Hope you finish your project soon so it's behind you.
